I started collecting cards back in 1978, simply because my older brother was buying them. I was immediately hooked. The 78 set would be the first one I would ever complete. I took a brief hiatus from collecting from about 1990-1998. In the spring of 1998, a buddy of mine was heading to a show for autographs and I tagged along. I went there just to look around, and left with about 250 1972 commons. I was on my way. Eventually, I reached a point where I needed high priced star cards and high numbers. I decided to start on a new set instead. 1970 was the year I selected. 1971 followed shortly thereafter. This pattern continued, and eventually I was collecting the 66-69 sets as well. I would pick up commons at a cheap price whenever I could, occasionally getting some cards in great condition, but settling for more cards in lessor condition. The nicks and creases didn't bother me. Then, luck struck me down two times and led me to OBC. First, I came across a checklist that led me to the late Chris Stufflestreet's wantlist site. Next, I ran into George Vrechek at a Chicago card show. Since joining this great group in 2005, I have completed a number of sets, including all Topps sets from 1953-1980. I am currently working various sets from the early 1900's-1979, ranging from t206, Goudeys, Topps, Bowman, Fleer, OPC, Kelloggs, Hostess, and many inserts. I also collect ANY pre war Red Sox and White Sox cards. Trades are welcomed and any condition is acceptable.

1978 Topps Beater set.
