This has to be the most thorough AND interesting baseball card site on the web. I can spend hours here practically reliving those Ernie Banks/Billy Williams/Fergie Jenkins years with the Cubs.

I am also looking to buy 75T minis. Please forward your lists and asking prices to GReedus@aol.com. Thanx

I still remember to this day. The little ice cream shop in Mountlake Terrace Wa. where I grew up. Maggies Market, the friendly old guy who ownned the shop, the ice cream, and mostly, the 5 cent packs of baseballcards. Complete with stick of gum. Having a paper route, I always had enough money to go in and buy several packs at a time. What a thrill to uncover a Willie Mays, or a Tony Oliva,( having no team in Seattle, I opted for the Twins as my favorite, mom and dad from there, ya know. What a diferent ball game it is now, 5.00 packs, subsets, etc. etc..... We who grew up then were very lucky indeed, the fun is still there but the innocence is long gone. Still a Fan Mike MIller

I am hoping you can help me, if not, possibly you could direct me to someone who could.

I have an uncut sheet of 1928 Babe Ruth Frojoy Ice Cream baseball cards in mint (possibly near mint) condition. This sheet had belonged to a family member who had been in possesion of it all his life. It has now been left to me. I would like to learn what the value of this item is and possibly place it for sale. Could you be of assistance? Do you know where I might go to get this appraised?

Does anyone out there in cyberland have any idea how the sheets were configured for the 1954 and 1955 Topps baseball sets? The series break down that Beckett uses makes no sense at all. I don't give a hoot about the "almighty value" of the cards but I am curious about how they were printed. Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Anybody here have any ideas for taking away the bad smell out of cards. I recently bought a teamset from 1973 and they smell of fishing nets. I dont bother one way or the other normally about how cards smell but these are really strong and as they are I dont want to put them beside my other cards. And nice site.

Really nice site. Glad to see some are still in a hobby for the fun of it, especially in an era when even 10 year olds are more interested in the value of a card rather than the sport. I quit collecting after two years back in 52. Figured it was for kids and I was too old at 16. When I see what the hobby has become today I was completely turned off. The modern sports scene isn't much better. I still look at my collection for but that is about it. I did scan all my cards so that I will have something to remember them by when I finally decide to part with them. Right now I can't bear to let them go. Too many memories. remind me of days past when I get to the point

I do have the scans on the www at http://www.geocities.com/~bandb and http://members.xoom.com/rcpcards for the memories

Finally a group of collectors, not investors masquerading as collectors. Most folks can't relate when I say, "my newest price guide is an '82. I bought it as a checklist." Would be happy to return to any year pre 1981, when you could reasonably and affordably collect the current year's cards and work on back filling older sets. But I'm not bitter. OK, yes I am. Occasionally get somewhat active in the hobby. Currently don't have the free time to do the necessary checklisting to know what all I have and/or therefore what I need. When I do, I'm a team set collector, as well as favorite players, and especially any baseball card that really tells you something about what life in America was like the year the card was made. Have never sold a baseball card or really intentionally acquired more than one of the same card. Love cards in the Fair to Poor quality grades, if the picture and text are mostly intact. I will bookmark your site for that mythical "when I have more time to spend on my cards" future. Trivia Question: Which cards make up the matched Unabomber set?

I have over 1000 1974 Topps baseball "commons", available for trade. Some "minor stars" also, don't you just hate those beckett classifications. These cards are in a wide variety of conditions, from NM to G. I am not looking to sell them, or buy cards, so unsolicited emails of this nature are not desired. I have made quite a few trades with OBCers and love to trade. I am currently working on a 1972 Topps set (in EX condition, birth year quest) and 1959 Topps set in tipton cond. I'm also "slowly" gathering '56 topps (tiptons), '66 topps, and would like to eventually put together Red Man tobacco sets from the early 50s. Favorite players include Dale Murphy, Thurman Munson, and Carlton Fisk, as well as Tom Brewer, a pitcher for the BoSox from '55 through the early 60s (he's from my hometown of Cheraw, SC). Please email me to inquire about the 74s (as well as other dupes I have available), I will be more than happy to put together a starter set for anyone thinking about starting the 74 set.

Thanks OBC for helping me enjoy the hobby once again!

Finally. I've been collecting since I was nine years old (1979) Since the late-80's and early 90's, the hobby took a dramatic turn. By only reading your site, I believe you agree with me. However, it's great that the old tradition still exists.

With todays sport figures, it's nice and sometimes a treat to walk through the pasttime and think and understand their(the players) need and feel for the game, when all it was, was just a game!!! It's a shame that my kids won't be able to experiance the game the way it once was.

I collect 52 Topps-There is really no nostalgia or fun left in card collecting because of the outrageous high prices on old cards due to profits realized by greedy dealers.i have to collect cards in the set i am interested in- 52 Topps- in low grade -Poor-Fair-Good- because of the high prices of these cards set by dealers who expect 500% to 1,000% or more returns on their investment on these cards- Don't fool yourselves fellow collectors- dealers buy and sell these old cards between themselves and from unknowledgeable sellers at a very tiny fraction of what they sell them to collectors for- i would like to be able to collect 52 topps cards in decent conditon at a reasonable price but it is impossible due to the greed of dealers- and i wait to hear the dealers yell in protest- i answer them with the fact that 90% of the collectors since the boom years of the early 90's have left this hobby because the old cards like the 52 topps are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced- the stuff has gotton so expensive that average people can't afford old cards so they left the hobby in droves-the only thing that will bring the prices of cards down is an complete economic disaster like the Great Depression of the 1930's and i welcome it ..i welcome the day when dealers HAVE to sell the cards to have money to eat- then you won't hear them saying any more" i don't need to sell these cards and i can price them as high as i want because i don't need the money anyway-

Hi fellow collectors & baseball card enthusiasts,

I have been a sport card collector since the age of 10 in 1969. To date I have amassed well over 100,000 cards. Now all are for sale with the exception of my complete 1970 set, NY Mets cards & certain deceased players. I've been selling on eBay since Feb 1998 & still do have current baseball card auctions hapening there. So feel free to look at my auctions to buy cards there too. My eBay User ID is: daysgonebye. But in order to bid you have to be a registered user. To register on eBay is FREE!!

I think this OBC site is the perfect anser & solution for serious card collectors to buy, sell, trade, talk shop talk, share comradarie & a whole lot more. My hat is off to this superb & excellent website. I wil surely spread the gospel. Thanks for your time & I hope to do business with some of you soon.

My Husband, Chef Ron, is the "Baseball Encyclopedia" (as I call him), but I've enjoyed this so very much, especially the Gallery and at the bottom of it where you can play the songs of Abbott & Costello with their "Who's on First" that is truly a Classic!! Brought a lot of laughter to our home!! My experience with baseball players, in 1972 while working at the Sahara Hotel, I met and got an autograph from the late-great Mickey Mantle, for my nephew (I just hope he still has it)! Let's Play Ball!!

Great site. I agree with many comments about prices of early cards. However here in England collecting is made more difficult with few collectors and fewer dealers and the added cost of UK Customs adding nearly 20% import tax to the price of the cards sent from dealers in the USA. despite this I am collecting 52 and 53 Topps. I would like to hear from any other UK based collectors.

I love this website/group of old card collectors. I would very much like to join if I can, for I am an avid collector of older baseball cards, right now I am primarily working on 3 sets myself, the 1970-72 Topps sets. I also don't care about the condition of the cards, just love to collect and see the sets grow as I put them into pages.

OBC.com might be a dream come true for me. For decades I have wished I could find a group of collectors with whom I could simply trade cards, without having to spend several dollars (or several dozens-to-hundreds of dollars)per card. I started a card collectors club in one city I lved in, but membership was almost all boys with nearly-new cards. I hope your group will be much more compatible with my interests.

I am a 13 year old female and I used to collect baseball cards when I was little. I had a card that was supposebly worth 1 mil. but I can not find it. Due to the interest in finding out how much my other ones are worth, i would highly appreciate it if someone would help me with my other cards. I dont know whether they are junk or not, but someone please email me and I would love to chat about the cards. Some of them are from 1989, and some are old Red Sox Players. I dont know whether or not I have the right website for finding out about my cards but someone please help!

Thank you,

I have a George Brett 3rd baseman 1975 card . Would like to find out what it is worth, and possibly sell it to the highest bidder. Please pass my name and e-mail on to other baseball card collectors. Sincerely Patrick Turner.

Great to view a site that conveys purity. I've been disillusioned over the years to see washed out used car salesman become overnight experts on this wonderful hobby.

Keep up the good work!

I would like to find some information out about my grandfather Ellis Kinder. He was a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox back in the 40's and 50's. Can you tell me some websites on where to see this information?

You folks are what baseball card collecting should be all about. I thought all my cards had been used for noisemakers on my bicycle spokes until me and my Dad cleaned out the garage. Two shopping bags and 4 shoeboxs stuffed full. Isn't life grand !! Keep up the good work and don't lose your sense of humor. Later, Dave
